Larkspur Farmer’s Market – Last hour of the last day – magic mushrooms

Good thing I didn’t wait till next week to stop by the market. Saturday was the last day of the season.

Seven vendors if you don’t count the table selling Sesame Street puppets ... with music.

Most of the vendors also sell at the Wednesday Corte Madera farmers market which is year round.

Bennet Valley Bakery has a stand. There’s a flower vendor and the rest are unidentified vendors ... till I asked. Prices seemed a little high for produce that wasn’t organic. Whitmore & Greeer was selling ok last of the season stone fruit, tomatoes and bagged nuts. There were some shells in the walnuts and, again, only ok. There was a raspberry vendor and another little produce vendor that I didn’t buy anything at.

The best stand was J & R, which I think was the name they told me. They had some out and out killer mushrooms ... not in the poisonous way.

These mushrooms looked like they were personally gathered from some secret forest location. The brown meaty mushrooms I had yesterday were outstanding. At the end of the day I got a special of 1 pound of the best looking shitake mushrooms I have ever seen. They do sell at Corte Madera and I might drop by just for the mushrooms.

They also had some cool veggies like these sort of snow peas edged in brilliant purple. Does anyone shop at that market and know what they are?

The market starts up again in May - Sat, 10A-2P. Located in the shopping center at Larkspur Landing across the street from the Ferry.

Didn't realize they were shutting down for the season - thanks for the headsup. I bought my weekly bags of peaches and strawberries there yesterday. I like that they're so small - at 9:30 AM you have the parking lot all to yourself.
