California Roll and Sushi...not bad and CHEAP!

I know this is a smaller local chain, and I know it's nuthin' fancy. For some reason, though, the location on Hillhurst just south of Los Feliz Blvd. has always been tasty and such a good value.

Last night, two of us ate for $25 (before tax and tip)

I had an amazing plate of Ono sashimi with a light sesame sauce. 6 thick slices, about 5 inches by 2 inches. The Ono was served a little colder than I like, but I had some pepper salmon nigiri while it warmed up a bit. The presentation of the ono included a fresh orchid on the plate along with some other greenery. Really pretty and tasty.

My companion ordered a tempura spicy tuna roll, he seems to like that for some reason. It's about 10 slices, the rolls are big here.

We finished up with a simple avocado roll, my idea of mellow comfort food.

It's a small, cramped place, there is no sushi bar to sit at, and sometimes refills take a while, but for the price, I love this choice when I want sushi, but can't spring for Azami or Saito.
