Franco's Metro in Fort Lee Review: Great

This place just got a major rehab and looks really really nice. It's in the strip mall beneath Route 46 in the Pathmark shopping Plaza. It's got an adjacent pizzeria and now a great separate retaurant. Decor is rustic Italian with a nice wood buring oven in plain view..

I had the most amazing Quattro Formaggio gourmet individual pizza. What was really good was that unlike other random Italians this one had Fontina cheese on it.. Wow that really gave it a tasty kick.. I could eat that every single day.. They have really creative gourmets individuals and whole pies.

Husband had a mixed green salad, which was nice and large and the chicken scarpariello for dinner, chicken breast sauteed in lemon sauce with sausage and peppers and mushrooms.. He said it was really good. For dessert, we got the Metro Brownie, which was a large brownie with your choice of ice cream on top.. The brownie was a bit dry, tasted microwaved and not fresh made.. Next time I'll try the chocolate mousse cake or the fresh zeppole..

Overall, a great neighborhood place. A few notches above the Big Red Tomato in town, which I USED to love, plus it has a great fully-stocked bar and wine list.. REally nice service, family-owned place..
Highly recommend it.

    1. While I'm glad that you gave Franco's Metro got a "Great" review, I'm upset that people are finally starting to realize how "great" this place really is. My family and I have treated Franco's Metro as our private/personal place for the past 2 years, and I'm worried now that word is getting out about how good it actually is, we won't be able to get a table. Like you, I really like their Brick Oven Pizza recipes, I try to sample a new one each time we visit. Plus, we always get one of their Sangrias, they make it with fresh strawberries, mint leaves, champagne, white wine and Chambord, I've tried to make this Sangria at home for friends at least 3 times, and I just can't get it right. My husband is a huge fan of their specials, he hasn't even looked at a menu the last 6 times we have been there, he just picks something the waiter rattles off and always loves it. If the nice people at Franco's Metro come across these comments, please save us a table!
