Chinese food in San Carlos

San Carlos has about two thousand, five hundred and sixty-seven Chinese restaurants. Has anyone found the gem among them? Is there a gem? I've been in maybe five of them and haven't seen much variation in offerings or quality (which tends to be fine). I don't need Eat Drink Man Woman, but something besides Kung Pao Protein and Deluxe Won Ton Soup With Precisely Two Small Shrimp would be a nice change of pace.

  1. I used to eat at Lucky Buddha a few times a month when I lived in San Carlos. Many of the flavors were not what I expected, so every meal was a bit of an adventure. One "off menu" item that I like to order is flounder fillets sauteed with Chinese broccoli in a simple white sauce with garlic. They did a good job with that one.

    1. Thanks, Jefferson. I did go there a few times, and saw it filled with big families of those who would know Chinese food best. There are also fresh seafood tanks by the door as I recall...for those who are keeping score at home, Lucky Buddha is on El Camino down around Howard. One time when I picked up mu-shu there they forgot to pack the pancakes, and they sent their guy to my house a mile or so away with a hot batch.
