Getting sick of Pho...Craving the dark, aromatic broth with chunks of beef and gelatinous tendon. Any suggestions?

  1. Think Mandarin Deli in the same shopping center as Pho 79 is your only option, since this is a Northern dish and most places in Chinatown serve Cantonese.

    1. Almost every Cantonese noodle house restaurant in Chinatown has beef stew noodle soup.
Try New Won Kok, May Flower or Sam Woo. At the May Flower you can have the soup, but I'm thinking maybe you'll also appreciate the beef stew hot pot too.

      1. Don't know about Chinatown, but 101 Noodle Express (1408 E. Valley Blvd., Alhambra, (626) 300-8654) does a pretty nice version. (Their shrimp and pumpkin dumplings are really nice too.)

        1. Kim Chuy Restaurant
          727 North Broadway, #103

          1. Mandarin Deli. The broth is rich and flavorful, the beef is cooked till it wants to fall apart. A sprinkling of scallions and cilantro. You can get it regular or spicy, with thick noodles or bean thread. Mmmmmmm I want some now!
