Arabian/Lebanese Breakfast at GFC - Bernal Heights - Report
My housemates and I ate at Good Frikin Chicken today for breakfast/brunch. I read about the breakfast here on chowhound (thanks evangross) and at 11 AM, off we went!
Overall, very nice food and very good prices. One friend had scrambled eggs with cheese, I only tried a small bite which was very good. Nice flavorful cheese, some other spices in there as well. Another friend had pita with labneh and spices...good but not that substantial. Another friend and I shared one of these too.
We also shared a plate of falafel (came with a small bowl of dipping sauce, no bread, though this is only 75 cents extra). Falafel themselves were very good, nice and cripsy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside.....I'd go back to this place to try a falafel sandwich there.
Finally we also shared the fatteh with ground lamb....this was pretty awesome. A large bowl full of chickpeas, yogurt soaked pita bread, ground meat, spices and lots of pinenuts. Served steaming hot, definitely plenty to share. I had never had this dish before, so I can't compare it with much else....definitely makes a hearty breakfast.
All four of us had arabic coffee...lots of mint and cardamon, served unsweetened and super strong. Very nice.
For a different breakfast experience, this place is definitely worth a try. I'm pretty sure the sign said that breakfast is only on weekends, from 8 till 12.
