Had the white chocolate espresso tartelette. Was good as usual. Not too chocolatey and not too coffee. The consistency is just right, not goopy and not soupy. The crust is just right, not too hard and not too soft, and tastes fresh. Highly recommend.

I stopped in there today and had two things. The chocolate (dark, not white) thing I can't remember the name of (croissant-like pastry) was quite good, with a strong chocolate layer on the bottom. The cheese (gruyere) roll was about the worst thing of its type I've ever had. It was ordinary wonderbread-type pastry with a thin coating of cheese stuff on the top that didn't even have much cheese flavor eaten by itself. I pitched it after a few bites. What do people think of this place?

They are much better at sweet pastry than savory pastry. My favorite thing is the fruit tart; excellent custard and crust. For cheese rolls in Berkeley, I prefer Cheeseboard and Acme.

Their morning buns (warmed) can't be beat. Their cupcakes can be amongst the best, although I've had a few that were unusually dry for them. Their chocolate croissant is probably one of the best in the East Bay. Their bread products are generally good, but not exceptional. Other sweets I've had there have ranged from ok to very very good. Yesterday I was tempted to get a ham/cheese pastry (flaky) but decided not to.
