Won Ton Soup at New Hong Kong Wok (Sacto)

A few weeks ago PeterL asked me to post on The NHKW version of wonton soup so here it is. I've never had wonton soup with noodles before and it kinda through me off. The wontons were pretty good. Basically pork, shrimp and flavorings. The broth was heavy with shrimp shell taste. Too much for me, I want a chicken based broth. It was very dominate. I also ordered salt and pepper pork chop (dimsumgirl influence) and it was great. About $12/13 plus tip with lot's of leftovers.

All in all the wonton soup was not my fav. Jade Fountain is still my favorite by far. Still that's not to say I don't care for the NHKW, I do. As usual I was the only caucasian in the place, all the specials on the wall were in Chinese script, the place has an authenticity (sp?) that can't be beat and the wait staff has always been nice to me.

I'll go back for sure but not for the wonton soup.

  1. Roberto, glad you enjoyed that salt and pepper pork chop. Next time you are in the mood to hit that area of town, give me a call or drop me an email. The service at NHKW can be surly but the food is okay even though it has slipped over the last few months. Jade Fountain is very good and the servers there are much more friendly.
