Sushi near Union Square?

Any good places for sushi in the Union Square area? I have heard mixed things about Yama and I don't really know the area that well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Taste of tokyo on 13th between 5th and 6th. Great sushi, good service and reasonable.

If you're looking for somewhere cheap, Edo (on 17th?) is pretty serviceable. They also do a respectable Katsu.

Japonica is great, on 12th and University.
Make sure to get the Kobe beef appetizer, its amazing!

Yama is around Union Square isn't it? That was really good sushi, not big on atmosphere though.

I like Azuki. Nothing revelatory, but always well-prepared and well-priced.

azuki is my favorite in the area--consistent good quality.

Also all-you-can-consume wine or sake at certain times.

I forgot about Japonica. I have not been there before. Any "must try" recommendations?

Japonica is reliable, good and somewhat expensive. Having said that, whatever the daily recommended fish are which are usually flown in from Japan, are usually good.

Thanks gutter, I know you can be a tough but fair critic so your recommendation works for me.

I've been to Mizu @ 20th/Broadway and Choshi Sushi @ 19th/Irving Place a few times each ... didn't think either was remarkable, but both were fine.

There's also Sushi Samba at 20th/Park Ave South but I've never understood it's appeal (and strongly disliked the only meal I've ever had there).

A little bit north of Union Square, but Mizu on 20th Street is good.
