Special occasion dinner in Hudson Valley, help me choose!

Hi All,

My husband and I make an annual trip to the Hudson Valley every year to celebrate our birthdays. We need a nice restaurant to celebrate. We have dined at:

all the CIA restaurants
Mina (now closed)
The Locust Tree
Cafe Tomayo

So where should we go this year? I heard Beso is great, but do you have any other recommendations? We don't want an ultra fancy place, but a romantic nice place. Amazing desserts are a plus too.

thanks in advance!

    1. I don't know if Xavier's is considered in The Hudson Valley, but we have had a truly memorable meal there and it is supposed to excellent still.

        1. I would agree on Xavier's in Piermont, NY - also Restaurant X in Congers is owned by Xavier as well.

            1. Madalin's Table at the Madalin Hotel (53 Broadway, Tivoli, 845 757 2100) is exquisite. I've only eaten there once but the food was awesome. Friends have raved about it too. The waiter was a bit of a nutjob, but...

                1. My first vote would be Beso's -- excellant food and wine. Great service.
Marcello's (Suffern) is wonderful Italan and great service--we just went there for a special birthday and were treated like royalty.
Peekamoose (Big Indian) not only can you leaf your way through the Catskills, but you can have a wonderful meal using local foods and flavors. Service is impeccable, food is delicious. And, what a wonderful setting!

                    1. depuy canal house in high falls:

                        1. I know im very behind but I saw your post in a search... Marcello's in Suffern is a great place, and the only place where you can find my favorite dish, Black Pasta. Black Pasta is infused with squid ink i think they said, it sounds strange but its out of this world it gives the pasta a different flavor and then it is topped with shellfish! amazing! and its just as expensive as Legal Seafood but so much better! They also have a variety of pastas and meats.
