Pub lunch in Salem?

Hi, all. My first post, but I've been appreciating your input for ages.

I'm taking my parents and the SO to Salem on Saturday. I've never been before, and I'm excited about it. My parents are English, and we're aiming for a pub lunch in Salem. Can anyone make a recommendation? I've seen the good reviews of In A Pig's Eye, and I checked out their web page... it looks good, but it doesn't look too EXCITING. Are there other options in a casual dining and medium price range?

Thanks!

I would try Mc Swiggins on Essex St, diagonally across from the Hawthorne Hotel.

It's an Irish pub, so it has American and Irish pub fare--burgers, shepherd's pie, beef stew, etc--but it also has some specials that are a bit more adventurous. Prices are reasonable--about $4/pint and $8-10 or so for most of the lunchtime items.

I was in Salem a few weeks ago and McSwiggins was closed. It looked like they were in the process of building condos on top of it. The pub space was still there but empty, so not sure what future plans are.

Hmm. I drove past tonight on my way home and the space seemed busy and lit up like normal. I'll have to investigate more thoroughly tomorrow, and see if I was imagining things.

If Stevie's right, there's not much else in the way of "pub, but with some more adventurous choices" As hargau says, Beer Works is fine, but it's standard pub food, with more pastas and salads.

Dodge St has BBQ pork and brisket sandwiches, which is a little different for pubs around here.

Oh, dear, then. Any other suggestions?

O'Neils across from Rockafellas is a good size, clean pub. Food looked good but I didn't eat there but thought I'd mention the place. It might be worth checking out.
