Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese? Get great advice

It's 11 PM, I'm in Santa Monica and I'm hungry. Now what?

BIM Sep 29, 2006 01:16 AM

Maybe even midnight. And maybe I'm not up for a full on Pacific Dining Car meal. Is there no taco bar, Thai restaurant, Italian or even a burger joint that might be open at that hour? Or God forbid even later?

Let's say West of the 405 and north of the 90.

Tommy's on Pico and Lincoln is open 24 hours. La Cabana further South on Rose at Lincoln serves late. Swingers further North on Lincoln serves late. I believe that the Bar Menu at Beechwood on Washington at Abbott Kinney in Venice is available 'til 1 but have not put it to the test. Many IHOPs are open 24 hours. There are also a few delis in that area which (while not wonderful) are open, for example, Broadway Deli on the Third Street Promenade stays open 'til Midnight.

Border Grill's website calls me a liar but I swear I thought their bar (with a bar menu, foodwise) stayed open until 1 am. Maybe I am dreaming this up...

based on comments on a recent thread about hummus, i tried cafe dahab on sawtelle, just south of S.M. blvd. indeed, very good hummus. (i also enjoyed the lentil soup and tabbouli.) they're open until 1:00 a.m.

I know a lot of people don't like this place, but I do like the Cheeseburgers and Tuna melts @ Izzy's Deli.

Taco trucks on lincoln aren't open? Holy Guacamole mentioned above is ok.

There's a new 24 hour Ihop if you're into that thing on Lincoln in Marina del rey next to del taco....

i actually had a pretty good meal at La Cabana the other night...the barbacoa...not bad for the genre of food....

New Japan on SM Blvd right near the 405 has decent teriyaki and tempura served late night (fast food type of japanese food)

Benito's taco on SM Blvd and Federal is open 24 hours I think....i don't generally like it there though.

There's an in-n-out on Washington Blvd next to Costco...i'm not sure what time its open til, but I would think its past 11pm....

I actually agree with you on Izzy's melts.

And I'm not really a fan of this place either.

But it's in the same relative area as O'Brien's, 14 Below, the Gaslight and a few other places that seem to precede eating comfort food late at night.

                        Johnnies Pastrami

This is just outside the border of your travel restriction, but the hours are good for late night eats.
