Pastry in San Rafael

I've just relocated to Marin -- anyone know where to go to get French pastry and a strong cup of coffee in San Rafael?

A Taste of Tyrol is gone (sob!) It was exactly what you describe, but alas, no more. Far as I know, there's nothing else in the wonderful-bakery-with-cafe category anywhere in Marin.

One possibility, with great croissants if you don't mind HUGE, is Le Croissant on Bellam. Great breakfasts and lunches. They bake their own things, but there's not a lot to choose from (it's a cafe first and bakery second). They have espresso drinks. Their latte with croissant deal is a breakfast standard.

My last search for pastry dates back a year or so, but after a movie a friend and I wandered west from the San Rafael Cinema (is that C Street?) 4 or 5 blocks and turned north and a couple of doors up there was a little bakery with lovely stuff! Sorry to be so vague.

Not sure about the French pastry part but Royal Ground on the corner of 4th and C makes a good strong cup of coffee
