There's a topic from 2001 about where the best KC barbecue is. A lot can change in 5 years! Anyone have an opinion, based on recent experience, about where the best is today?

You must have not searched right! For a while, that was all we got requests for! Here's some more recent posts:

I'd tell you more, but I'd just be repeating what is in the links! Everyone has their opinion and people are pretty passionate about it, so it just depends on what you're wanting to get out of it.

Edited to add: Here's my take on the different types of BBQ: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/show/310600#1758906

You are right, there is a lot! I went to the Midwest Board and put in the search terms "Kansas City Barbecue" and got only old stuff. I don't understand why the above links did not appear too. Anyway, thanks much for your helpful reply.

I went to the Midwest board and typed in "barbeque" and then arranged the search by the date, so it brings up the most recent posts. The difference in spelling could be the issue... I think most Kansas City people spell it with the Q!

As a side note, we had Jack Stack's cater our wedding reception this weekend, and while it was a very informal affair, A LOT of people said it was the best reception they've ever been to; I would like to think it was the food that won everyone over!

It's true that if you ask 10 people in KC what their favorite barbecue joint is you'll get 10 different answers. My favorite is rhe Jack Stack in Martin City (not on Metcalf - don't know why but there's a difference when it's the same chain). Corner of Holmes & 135th St. Recommend burnt ends and ribs. Yum! I've heard they also have incredible desserts although I'm always way too stuffed to order any.
