I'm headed to Chicago for the first time with some friends and we're looking for some great places to get unique desserts. Any suggestions? We'd like to stay in the Loop/Magnificent Mile area, and not have to get dressed up to walk in the door.

I remember seeing a show on the Food Network that said Tru had a 5 course dessert menu. Can anyone confirm, and if so, say how much it is?

Here's some information about Peninsula's Chocolate Bar:
    Chocolate Bar at The Peninsula
    108 E. Superior St.
    312-337-2888

The Lobby at The Peninsula Chicago offers hope for the clinically depressed with its Chocolate Bar. From 8 p.m.-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet features between 10 and 15 high-end confections, including cinnamon truffles, chocolate-dipped strawberries and chocolate pot de crème, plus beverages like lavender-scented white chocolate cocoa and more. $26 per person.

The Tru tasting is wonderful, and when I was there it was 3 or 4 courses for $25/person. You will most certainly have to get dressed up, but I think it is worth every dime.

To be frank, I much preferred my dessert tasting experiences at Tru to my full meal there. Not that the food was bad, I just thought the desserts were better. I'd recommend it.
