dessert junkie

I'm headed to Chicago for the first time with some friends and we're looking for some great places to get unique desserts. Any suggestions? We'd like to stay in the Loop/Magnificent Mile area, and not have to get dressed up to walk in the door.

I remember seeing a show on the Food Network that said Tru had a 5 course dessert menu. Can anyone confirm, and if so, say how much it is?

  1. Here's some information about Peninsula's Chocolate Bar:
    Chocolate Bar at The Peninsula
    108 E. Superior St.
    312-337-2888

The Lobby at The Peninsula Chicago offers hope for the clinically depressed with its Chocolate Bar. From 8 p.m.-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet features between 10 and 15 high-end confections, including cinnamon truffles, chocolate-dipped strawberries and chocolate pot de crème, plus beverages like lavender-scented white chocolate cocoa and more. $26 per person.

    1. I second that suggestion. It is great

      1. The Tru tasting is wonderful, and when I was there it was 3 or 4 courses for $25/person. You will most certainly have to get dressed up, but I think it is worth every dime.

To be frank, I much preferred my dessert tasting experiences at Tru to my full meal there. Not that the food was bad, I just thought the desserts were better. I'd recommend it.
