Knife transport?

I want to bring my knives to be sharpened. I will drop them off and get them the next week. How should I bring them? Wrapped in a towel? I just have one chef's knife and one paring knife to bring. They aren't very nice, but they'll be okay once they're sharp.

  1. Take a stack (about 10 sheets) of old newspaper and wrap the blade. Wrap each knife separately and make sure there is enough thickness on the pointed end so that the blade does not poke through. Either secure with rubber bands or tape.

    1. The classic approach is to cut two pieces of cardboard to fit each knife and staple them together on three sides (leaving one short end open) to create a little pocket or envelope in which to insert and hold the knife.
