Any suggestions for items unique to NY that is non-perishable or at least will travel well (not spoil, go stale, or fall apart within a couple of days) for out of town guests to bring back to CA as gifts?

I often give people Zabar's chocolate babka, and it's always a hit!
Katz's salami "Send a salami to your boy in the Army!"Actually, I'd probably contrive to get a pound or two of their pastrami into my luggage.
And of course while you are down there, Russ and Daughters has plenty of wonderful stuff to be taking home.
do they like wine? how about a nice one from the north fork? you can get them in the city.
I don't know that I'd bring Long Island wine back to California, especially as a gift from New York City.
How about Jacques Torres chocolates?
thanks! they ended up going to Jacques Torres.
