When I was living in NYC I used to go to Saints Alps Tea House for Boba and toast with matcha butter. the m.b. had the consistency of peanut butter and honey and was made with green tea powder and (i don't know what else?)

has anyone ever encountered this delicious matcha butter before? anyone know where to buy it or how to make it?

One version is just matcha and butter.

This is from "Search inside the book" at Amazon:

    New Tastes in Green Tea
    http://www.amazon.com/New-Tastes-Gree...

    "... Ingredients
    4 oz (120 g) butter or margarine
    1/2 tsp matcha
    4 plain muffins..."

For matcha butter, try Satura Bakery in either Palo Alto or Los Altos. They have a bunch of different butters there and their green tea butter is just as you describe. :)
