Ossining, Tarrytown, Mt Kisco Restaurant, Pub Suggestions

Have a date tonight with someone from Ossining and am unfamiliar with the restaurant scene there or in the surrounds. Looking for a comfortable place not too expensive but not a diner either. I'd Like to keep it at 100 or less if poss. Ideal would be an upscale Pub with great food and atmosphere type place. But all help will be appreciated. TIA.

Well, that sounds like a very good evening, both on the food front and from a date perspective. Hope to hear you two are out again in the future, exploring other fine things in life together - if you hit it off!

Hey Thanks you guys! I subscribe to Zagat's and just saw two places in BriarCliff Manor, Squires of BriarCliff and the other place is Briar's. Do you think I'd do better at Justin Thyme? Their menu looks really good

Definitely better atmosphere and food at Justin Thyme. Squires is a bar in a small strip mall with good greasy burgers, and Briar's is a family restaurant type place with barely adequate food and 1970's ambience.

Justin Thyme in Croton sounds like what you might be looking for--the food is very good (upscale pub type), and there is a lively bar scene. Link to their website is attached.

Well I survived my trip to Croton on the Hudson and Justin Thyme :) Actually it was a pleasant evening and ambiance and food were just what I was hoping for. At the bar they had a nice selection of wines by the glass and were good.
For starters my friend had "Italian Wedding Soup" which was a special. (Chicken broth with some greens, mini meatballs, celery, carrots etc.) She thought it was salty but I took a taste of the broth and thought It was decent. It had white wine in it and that flavor can intensify the salt flavor of a dish. It was OK for me. I ordered the Crabcakes for an app and she and I both thought they were good. They were served with a remoulade sauce for dipping but also with a jalapeno-corn-cilantro relish on the side, which went really nicely with them. Among the better that I've had. I almost ordered a Cajun Chicken pasta dish, but my eye kept going back to the Steak sandwich with thinly sliced marinated steak with barely sauteed red onions and Mozzrella on good garlic bread. I did have that with excellent fries and possibly the some of best onion rings I've ever had. All I can say is I haven't had a steak sandwich that good in years. So good that my friend took a couple of bites when I offered and I can tell she was almost sorry that she ordered the "Grilled Hibachi Chicken Breast" Marinated in soy ginger and garlic, and served with mixed julienned veg's; She gave me a taste and I thought it was pretty tasty as did she. And though that steak sandwich sang songs to us, she DID enjoy the chicken. Oh and she got a side of Sweeet Potato Fries. Something I've never been too fond of and yet here they were just right. There wasn't really room for dessert. So an Espresso with Sambuca for me and another glass of Red Zinfandel for her at the bar was a really nice finish to the evening. I couldn't have asked for better service, food or atmosphere at reasonable prices. Thanks again you guys for the rec. You really helped a guy out!!!!
