Back in Town and went to Porky's BBQ
I moved to Denver, a few months ago, end of November. I came back to visit my mom and saw what I thought to be some hype for yet another BBQ place that was being overhyped like Baby Blues BBQ last year.
Seeing Professor Salt, Thi N and a few other of the old posters in the thread helped me decide okay something is going on here besides the hype.
Wes's reviews are spot on. I really liked all of the items. The sides being homemade and not Smart and Iris types was a major plus.
The meats were smokey and actually as sweet as good pork gets from a good time in the smoker.
The Hobo plate is not available early morning but more of the later afternoons evenings.
I wish I had gotten the candied yams. Has anyone had them?
The greens, mac n cheese, dirty rice were all splendid.
I am always happy to visit home in LA for this sort of food.
It is non existent in Denver. If I could get Peruvian, some Japanese and Beard Papa in Denver......
