Sushi Mamoru, Milpitas report (w/ pics)

P. took me here for lunch 9/22/06. It had a Grand Opening sign out front, don't know how long they've been open. I really like the one area we sat in, in the red walled area. They were nice enough to let us order even though the sign said they open at 11:30am, we were there about 11:10am.
So P. wanted an appetizer of sashimi: it's written as tuna, salmon, or hamachi for $6.50. So we thought we could get a bit of all of them, unfortunately you can only get one. We got hamachi (yellowtail). I thought the fish was fresh and tender, but for $6.50 I want more then 4 pieces of sashimi, what a Rip OFF!!! Rated: C-
I got the lunch bento which is choice of two items $8.95 served w/ soup, salad & rice. They also have choice of 3 for $10.95. I picked: saba shioyaki and tuna sashimi. I liked all of it, but thought the portions kinda small-I finished everything and had to eat ginger rice to make me full, they did have one croquette that I gave to P. -he liked it, and 1 slice of orange which was ok.
P. got the sushi lunch special served w/ soup, salad & rice for $9.95. His was 5 pc sushi & 6 pc Calif. roll. He seemed to like it fine.
Service was a bit slow because they only had 1 waitress for the lunch rush!! Place can get very noise in the main dining area.
They have separate men and women bathroom. Women bathroom fully stocked, they the toilet didn't flush the two times I tried, mirror was a bit too high.
They have Mamoru special rolls that looked good on the menu-with pictures. They have shabu shabu ($12.95-21.95) and bbq grills ($16.95-39.95).
Recommended only if in the area and want Japanese food, I don't know if it's authentic.
