Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Sarsaparilla.
Where's the best of each? Beach Chalet brews there own ginger and root beer and they are just OK. The supermarket across the street (are you in the know?) sells some good, strong ginger ale with a penguin on the lable. I'm especially interested in any local brew pub doing their own versions of these oft overlooked beverages. Also, if anyone has tried to brew their own, I'd be interested in stories / tips.

PLease keep this board focused on where to find products in the Bay Area. For tips on brewing, we recommend posting on the thread started on the Home Cooking board at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/show/...

i just found this:
http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives...it's someone's own take on Canteen's recipe.

NOT the ginger ale at Elite Cafe. I hear that Canteen has good ginger ale and I've been meaning to go there. Yum on market carries more unusual bottled sodas.
You will get a slew more information on how to make your own on the Home Cooking board. I started a topic there for you.
