Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Sarsaparilla.

Where's the best of each? Beach Chalet brews there own ginger and root beer and they are just OK. The supermarket across the street (are you in the know?) sells some good, strong ginger ale with a penguin on the lable. I'm especially interested in any local brew pub doing their own versions of these oft overlooked beverages. Also, if anyone has tried to brew their own, I'd be interested in stories / tips.

  1. NOT the ginger ale at Elite Cafe. I hear that Canteen has good ginger ale and I've been meaning to go there. Yum on market carries more unusual bottled sodas.

You will get a slew more information on how to make your own on the Home Cooking board. I started a topic there for you.

      it's someone's own take on Canteen's recipe.

      1. Magnolia also brews its own root beer.

I'd like to here about all fizzy root drinks. Including Dandelion and Burdock.

          2. Haven't been in quite a while but King Jamaica on Fulton near Divisadero makes (or used to make) the best ginger beer in the city.
