One dinner in TRIBECA: Landmarc or Upstairs at Bouley??
Hi Hounds,
Coming in to town next week...Have only one night to have a nice dinner in Tribeca. Am deciding between Landmarc and Upstairs at Bouley.
Which would you choose?
P.S. Is Upstairs really as cramped and uncomfortable as they say?
Thanks!

upstairs is hella cramped...more than anything ive ever seen. but for some reason it wasnt uncomfortable.
as for one dinner in tribeca? id skip both landmarc and upstairs. both are okay but nothing amazing. actually, i felt upstairs' food was pretty mediocre...maybe since i was comparing it to bouley itself.
on the high end, bouley is the best pick. on the low end, dinner at walkers on north moore and varick. pre or post dinner drinks at brandy library on north moore and varick.
other mentions: fresh is amazing and underrated, odeon is a good nyc-type place, city hall is not a bad choice either.

I agree with Lucia. Food is good but not worth going back for (yes, I had the goat cheese profiteroles everyone raves about and wasn't impressed) at Landmarc and service was not good when I was there. By "not good" I mean that our waitress was obviously new to waiting tables, shy and rarely visited our table. Also, the timing of our food was way off. Go to Bouley.

Lucia...You rock! Thanks. If you have other Tribeca recs, let me know. Just in case we end up having to wait TOO long...It's good to have a Backup Plan.
Cheers!

re: Liquid Sky
Hmmm... I had a great experience, but the space is small and there's a lot going on (w/a sushi bar and a kitche), so I'd call the experience more interesting than relaxing. We were sitting very close to a table of four, but the room is bustling, so I felt that we could have our own conversation without overhearing each other. I haven't been in several months, but my wait was about 1/2 an hour at 9 on a Saturday night (table for 2). We waited in the market downstairs and were served wine from upstairs.
