Mosaic Forestville

I had dinner there last night and it was great.
We split an appetizer and salad and the entrees are huge -
we waddled out. The bill for two -- 116.
Everything was great -- I had a coffee encrusted filet mignon served in a chcolate cabernet sauce with a bluecheese compound butter and
truffled mashed potatoes. I would call it lily gilding of the finest variety. All of the dishes had layers of flavors that popped.
The grilled shrimp appetizer served in a macadamia sauce was wonderful but the evolved waldorf salad was fabulous. As well as serving dinner there is a wine lounge and a lovely back patio.
They serve brunch (lunch) on Sunday and we are planning on going soon. There is a great respect for ingredients and the service is efficient and helpful.
I have also seen the chef and his staff at a number of commuity events in the area -supporting the Russian Riverkeeper and Community Gardens. They brought real Mozzarella di Bufala with heriloom tomatoes .......

Thanks ellenm for the first official report on Mosaic. There was a brief mention earlier.

That meal sounds fabulous. I'm looking forward to your report on brunch. I tried to see if they had a website, but it is a work in progress, but for future reference:

Michael Bauer just did a little blurb about it on his blog

How busy is it? Are reservations needed?

Well there have been at least two previous reviews of Mosaic, pre-site 'upgrade'. I posted one, but was known as SteveT (not SteveT) and we aren't linked??????

Anyway, the food is really good. It is basically a neighborhood place except that there is no neighborhood.

I would recommend reservations, but I've never made them, having friends who live just around the corner.

        Is this it Steve?

I din't mean to snub you. I just meant write ups descriping the meal in detail. Also, I don't have much time these days to spend on Chowhound, so I didn't look at the posts that were part of general queries like the one above.

If you did a longer report and let me know the approximate date, I'll find it. The search engine is 99% great but it has little kinks sometimes and you have to guess the right term to search on.
