Staying in J-Town with a 11 month old

  • 6

Any restaurant recommendations? All meals, all foods (but I think we've got Chinese covered, thanks). Keep in mind, while she's very well behaved, she is also 11 months old. Unfortunately, no time to have those long lingering meals on this trip.

Thanks in advance.

  1. There are a few places to eat in J-town. However, I always go for getting a small sushi plate and drink from the Japanese grocery store and find a bench in the square in the middle of j-town.

    1. The deli case at Nijiya may be good to know about, my daughter (19 mos) enjoys the tamago, salmon onigiri, croquettes and other goodies. They open at 10 AM and the food is available all day and immediately, which as you know can be key.

Nijiya is also a good source of organic milk and fruits if you need to stock your room. It's the supermarket at Post/Webster.

      1. On the Bridge inside J-town is a great little place. It serves more modern Japanese cuisine, like Japanese curry and pasta dishes.

        1. Thanks everyone. Now it looks like we're staying near Union Square...don't ask. Anything over there? Again, thanks for your recommendations.

          1. Sears for breakfast

            Farmer's Market is a must!

            1. Don't discount J-Town - less than 10 minutes away up Geary on the 38 or 38L; far more accessible and inexpensive food that your toddler might appreciate more than what's available in Union Square.

Seriously, I ate at Moca yesterday in Maiden Square and the three vegetable plate and a glass of wine was $25! That is outrageous!
