Hiddenboston - The Waterfront Cafe is the type of place you like to hang out and watch a game, but get there early on those days, it gets crowded. Their menu runs from sandwiches to pasta, pizza etc. I mostly go for the pizza or the stuffed olives. However, one time the kitchen made a mistake and gave me fried scallops instead of the olives and they were quite good - once I got over the shock tasting fish and expecting cheese!!! Here's their website http://www.waterfront-cafe.com

I hear they make a good burger too.

It's a good place to meet a Coast Guardsman or woman because it's across the street from USCG station.

          Isn't that a sweet sentiment.

        Does Ernesto's serve beer?

Ernesto's does serve beer. I went there recently after reading a lot of posts on here about it. I was very disappointed. Couldn't compare to Regina's, Galleria Umberto's or Santarpio's. Don't know if you've tried it yet. It's also a small place, so if you have a larger group, you might want to keep that in mind.

Yup. And rough table wine - perfect for pizza, in my opinion. Ernesto's was going to be my vote, although it might be too small for the OP's birthday group?

I love Ernesto's too but for a birthday party, counter service and fluorescent lights might not be the way to go...

Reginas and Antico Forno are both good choices, but lately I've been going to the Waterfront Cafe in the North End. They make a great pizza and they also have stuffed fried olives!!

Pegmeister, could you give a little more info on the Waterfront Cafe? How are their other entrees? What is the clientele like there?

I'm leading a group of 20-25 people through the North End and areas around there in a few weeks and am looking for a very casual place in the North End afterwards. Sounds like this might be a good place to go.

I second, third and fourth Reginas!

                Regina!

Definitely Pizzeria Regina. If they are packed, Antico Forno is a great choice, as Bob says.

This is where I really miss the European!

                    Regina. Or Antico Forno.

Or, grab a pie at Haymarket Pizza and bring it next door into Pete's Pub. That would probably be the most fun (and the cheapest).

Well, Pizzeria Regina, of course! For something slightly fancier but not as good, Nebo.
