Oakland -- quick foods

Heading to the Coliseum to watch the A's tonight and want to pick up some food along the way. What would be good to pick up that's good for a child (under 5) also?

will be heading there from the berkeley/albany area

    2. The hubby often goes to games and brings our five-year-old (he'll be there tonight, sans five-year-old) and he usually picks up burritos. He usually get Picante or Cactus because they're veggie- friendly and have child-size burritos (the Shen's burrito at Cactus is only about $1.50, if I'm recalling correctly) and are not too spicy. But you probably have your own favorite burrito place...Burritos are easy to carry and don't require utensils.

      1. If it's burritos you are going for, then e.14th is the way to go. Get off at the Fruitvale exit, take a right on E.14th(International) and you have a bunch of taquerias far better then Cactus or Picante. Otaez, el ojo de agua, el farolito. Then take a right on 37th, left on San Leandro and go straight till you hit the Mac.

thanks for the tips.. i ran late and ended up eating at the Net. these will come in handy for Saturday's game though.

are any of these places on International quick takeout type places? or traditional sit down restaurants? any parking?

They're basically taquerias so you can sit down or get to go. There are also lots of taco trucks in that area (do a search for "fruitvale taco trucks" and you'll turn up tons of info. It's all street parking (except for the taco trucks, which usually have some parking around them), but it's not too bad.

Better burritos, probably, but my kids really enjoy the blander flavors of Picante and Cactus, which is why I recommended them. It's also nice to have a child-size burrito especially for a kid under five.
