Brunch at Marseille--great rec!

After reading many reviews of Marseille (44th & 9th), I decided to try it out for brunch yesterday afternoon. It was a great recommendation! Thank you so much. I had a drink called le pamplemousse, which was a well crafted grapefruit martini, and my husband had a ruby red sunrise, which was equally delicious. We both started off with a nutella croissant--which was very rich, but very fresh. The croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery--and the nutella took it to a whole new place! I had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The eggs were cooked perfectly--which is a big thing with me. The hollandaise sauce was perfect, and the smoked salmon was delicious. It was served with a very small mesculin salad tossed in a lemon vinagrette and a small amount of diced pan-fried potatoes tossed in basil oil. My husband had the steak frites--which he loved. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the french fries were superb. The best part was the dessert! I ordered the carmel apple ravioli served with almond frozen custard. This was amazing--and all I can think about is when I can go back for more! I was so into my dessert that I cannot remember what my husband ordered! We also ordered cappuccinos--which were great. The total bill with tip was only $95.

Thanks again for the rec--I hope this helps someone else. If you have been to Marseille for dinner--let me know what you thought--and what you ordered...

  1. Lovely food at Marseille. The service was spectacularly awful. No cutlery. No refills. 25 minutes to get entrees. It might have been just my server though -- everyone in his station had problems.

    1. kimie, thanks for the report. I too discovered Marseille from this Board (thanks, RGR) and have been for lunch and dinner. If you do a search of this Board you can find my report and others.
