Susina on Beverly is a great suggestion. Clementine in Century City if not too far out of your way. Boule on La Cienega near the Beverly Center - fantastic but more pastry than baked goods.

Absolutely - if price is not an issue I'd go with Boule.

I second the recs for Susina on Beverly and LA Bakery in Atwater. The latter has excellent blueberry coffee cake and the like.

Cafe Tropical on Sunset in Silver Lake has some good Cuban-style pastries, including guava pastry, perhaps too exotic for your boss.

I'd stay away from Back Door Bakery, it has nothing remarkable.

        Here's two more great choices:

Paris Baguette on Western and First.

        Backdoor Bakery on Silverlake Blvd.

LA Bakery in Atwater (NOT Hollywood). But they open at 8 AM (maybe earlier) and it's a straight shot east on Los Feliz Blvd.
Lots of great pastries & muffins.
          Guaranteed to impress your boss.

Susina Bakery at 7122 Beverly Blvd. just west of La Brea is reallllly good. 323.934.7900. Call for info, and see if they have a website and a list of products available.
