La Casita Del Sabor Salvadoran and Honduran Hartford CT
I stopped by La Casita Del Sabor in Hartford on a Saturday afternoon. They have a nice, sunny atmosphere and plenty of parking available. I didn't have a lot of time so I decided I would just order something to snack on. I was surprised to see they have Baleadas, which is a great Honduran snack. They are big, soft tortillas filled with red beans, cream, cheese, and sometimes egg or avacado. Unfortunately, they were out so I ordered some Pupusas. I love Pupusas, I eat them regularly so I hate to say this but I was disappointed with their pupusas. They were a little dry and didn't have enough cheese. Maybe it was just an off day, I will try to return sometime soon to try their Baleadas.
They offer a lot of soups and other dishes on the weekend. Unfortunately they don't offer any of the great soups from Honduras, like crab soup or conch.
Anybody else know of any Central American restaurants in the Hartford, New Britain, Waterbury area? I believe there is a Salvadoran place in East Hartford. And I've been told that the cooks at Dos Amigos in Torrington are Salvadoran and on rare occasions they offer Pupusas, however they aren't listed on the menu.
