Vendors at the Big E?

  • 6

my sister and I went to the Big E yesterday and, of course, had a fabulous time. But she wasn't feeling well and we had to leave before we had a chance to go back to the State houses and buy some things we wanted. Does anyone know the name of the company, I think it's a husband and wife team, who give samples of relishes in the CT building? Also, there was a company that just won an award for their mustard, and I think they were also from CT. I know this is a long shot, but just thought I'd try. Thanks!

  1. If you think you could recognize the name of the vendor the big E website has a list of vendors. http://www.thebige.com/fair/fair_be_a...
At the bottom of the page they list them by state. We're going next weekend. Is there anything there that we shouldn't miss?

I personally never miss the blueberry pie and vanilla icecream from the New Hampshire house. It's possibly the best pie I've had. It always comes hot, so the icecream melts over it.

    2. what other food can't be missed there? I'll be checking it out this year

Not to be missed are the baked potatoes in the Maine building. Big potatoes dressed (if you like) with butter, cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, salt and pepper. Then wash it down with any number of beers from the Storrowtown Tavern across the street.

      2. Has anyone ever eaten at the Storrowton Tavern. Is it just the elderly with their parents?

I ate there one year, not worth it when so many other good options are available. The only advantage it has is sit down waiter service. When you've been on your feet all day that could be what you're looking for.
