food job

contemplating big career change, from academia to food (non-restaurant). hoping to find a job w/a good food retailer or the like (london only) to test out my convictions. looking for a place that will look past my lack of professional food/retail experience and see a smart, capable, food lover who is eager to learn.
has anyone seen signs/have any leads?

Read as much as you can about food and then start small. You won't become a buyer for Fortnum's overnight, but try with a small, family run or mail order business. It's exactly the same work, just lower profile. And write, for as many newspapers, magazines, websites as you possibly can.
