Best German Beef Roulade in NYC

Hi,

My family's most favorite German dish is beef roulade, and I'd like to take my mother out to try some at a German restaurant here in the city when she visits next month.

FYI, we tried it at Zum Schneider already, and found it good but not great. Can anyone recommend where we should try our next plate of beef roulade? Price and location are not considerations.

I know this is a really specific question, but I'm hoping there's a chowhound out there with an opinion on the subject. Thanks in advance!

And if you can answer on the beef roulade, do they also have great red cabbage and creamed spinach side dishes?

I've never found a replacement for Cafe Geiger

(Let's not even discuss apricot jelly donuts or Apple Pfannkuchen.)

ok if we can't discuss Geiger's donuts...how 'bout sharing a moment of silence in fond memory of their cheese pockets.

they are still the best I ever had. ::big sigh::

Back in the day, on my way to work, I would knock on Cafe Geiger's door and they were so kind to unlock the joint and sell me some that were fresh out of the oven.

See if this helps. I'd love to know where I could get a great German rolled beef too (Roulade).

You can eliminate Cafe Sabarsky. The food's delicious but no rouladen.
