Taquerias in East Boston!!!

Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie to Chowhound and I can't believe I didn't find it before.... I didn't realize there were so many other people in Boston as obsessed with food as I am.
Anyway, my question is this. Tonight is my birthday and my husband and I want to check out some good Latino food in East Boston. Anyone know of a great taqueria there?

Thanks for your help!

  1. taqueria cancun (right next to the Maverick stop) gets raves, although i found that it seemed a bit expensive for what it was. there's another taqueria at maverick square, but i'm blanking on the name- they were pretty good. i have to say that i actually enjoy taqueria mexicana in union square or tacos lupita near porter a bit better. however, i haven't explored too many of the options in eastie. i hear rincon limeno (near orient heights, i believe?) is really great if you would be okay with peruvian. ;-) i'm in chelsea and there are a few el salvadorean places that are good, and i've heard that bella isla (puerto rican) is good.

sorry to not be of much help! have fun, though!

    1. I agree with much of what melle76 said. Taqueria Cancun is OK, but I prefer Taqueria Mexicana and Tacos Lupita. I've been to Rincon Limeno, and while it was fine also, I prefer Machu Picchu (a couple of blocks from Taqueria Mexicana--quite tasty in my opinion). Unfortunately, only Tacos Lupita is close to a T stop (Porter Square). In short, Somerville has better Latin American food than East Boston for my tastes.
