Coconut Cupcakes in Santa Barbara

A very well liked (cupcake loving) colleague just moved to Santa Barbara, from NYC. I'd like to send her a treat and maybe help her discover a good bakery.

So, I do a search and find SUGAR. But they are not retail, and I'd rather order from somewhere that she will be able to return to herself.... They refer me to Anna's in the Camino center (?) in Goleta... but they won't do less than 4 dozen coconut.

So, what I need (please) is somewhere that will deliver a human size order of coconut cupcakes. If they have a minumum that's fine....I'd just rather put a balance on a gift certificate.

"Joan's On Third" in Los Angeles has wonderful coconut cupcakes. I think that's about as close to Santa Barbara as you're going to get in this category.

I second the coconut cake at Montecito Cafe. I think they will make a cake to order. I have never had coconut cupcakes anywhere in town. If Hennings makes them they are an OK bakery. Jeannine's Bakery also does some nice things, but I don't know about coconut cupcakes. In comparison to NYC, your friend will feel very bakery deprived here.

If you have no luck finding a coconut cupcake consider a slice of the coconut cake from the Montecito Inn. Other hounds can attest, it is sooooooooo good.

Gawd, is it ever good. Yup, soooooooooooooooo good. Hard to find good coconut cake or cupcakes, but Montecito Inn takes the cake. Run, don't walk to send her one of these.
