ive narrowed it down, ladies and gentlemen...

Thank you, everyone, for all your input to my "12-16 guests, prix fixe or buffet, sit down dinner" problem, I am totally grateful and appreciative of your responses ... but I think I've narrowed it down to 2 choices (they are both prix fixe): L'escargot Bistro (http://www.lescargot.ca/home.html) or Pony Bistro (http://www.ponyrestaurant.com/private...).

Now, I havent called them or even tried them out. But according to you, which one dyou think is better (as a dining experience)? After this unscientific poll, I think I'll have a better idea of which restaurant to try out first ('coz if the first one's a-okay with me, I'll just totally go with it and plan it for my party, rather than trying both out--tight budget!).

So, what dyou think?

Oh hey now, you cant just say "thats too bad" without explanation, bestandworst!! Explain yourself please!!!

    2. I've been keeping an eye on your search, and I wish I could help, but I haven't been to either of the restaurants in question.

Thanks xtal. You've helped a lot!

      2. I hosted a private dinner for 25 at pony 2 years ago. They did an excellent job of creating a customized prix fixe menu with multiple choices for each course. And while it's not the best resturant in the city, it's not the worst. The private room is attractive and everybody was pleased with the food and the service. They even made us personalized menus for the occasion.

          Hi villars,

Do you remember how your prix fixe menu was? And how much was it per person?

        2. I was at a dinner at Pony a few years ago, a large party (maybe it was villars's?) Anyway, the dinner was great, and I'd highly recommend Pony. The only other time I ate there was for a Summerlicious lunch a few years back, and it was quite good then, too.

          1. So what about L'escargot? Nobody's said anything about L'escargot!! What does everyone think about it?

I didnt know L'escargot was THAT bad after reading this thread: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/sh...

              Consumers beware!

I guess I'm gonna try Pony then.

Seems that nobody on here has gone back to eat at Pony in over a year. Please let us all know how it turns out. Thanks!

            2. Well,I'm a little late for this, but a friend organized a very similar dinner at the Irish Embassy a few months ago, and it was both excellent and reasonable: a prix fixe with several choices and everyone enjoyed the food and had a great time. They even got a nice private room and the 2nd floor.

Have not been to either Pony or L'Escargot, sorry.

Hey Bluedog! No youre not late at all, I havent been to the Pony yet, actually! I've looked at the Irish Embassy prix fixe menu, and they're actually quite good! Better choices than what Pony provided, and better pricing too (in my opinion). And.. now that I think about it, a pub atmosphere is more informal as well, which is what I'm looking for!

Thanks for the input! I'm looking at their sister pub PJ OBriens as well, since they have a separate room, but they have a different menu.

                Thanks a bunch!

I like Irish Embassy & PJ's. The Quinn brothers do a good job. (You'll find PJ's to be more expensive.)
