Golden Island Chinese Cuisine(Chiu Chow food), Milpitas report (w/ pics)
P. and I went here Thurs 9/14/06 for lunch. I read the reviews and was looking forward to the lunch.

They have dim sum by filling out the form weekdays, weekends they have the carts. Dishes for dim sum are $3 each. Expensive in my book.
We got from the dim sum list: black sesame soft ball-it's a mochi dessert w/ black sesame goo. It was pretty good. A-
Another dish was steamed meat dumpling in supreme broth $3-it's a giant dumpling that's in a soupy broth. I didn't try it, but P. seemed to like it.
The lunch specials are $7.30 which includes soup and steamed rice. That's one of the more expensive lunch specials in the area I think.
I got # 21 lunch special-braised bean curd w/ pork. It comes with bok choy, about 6 big slabs of braised tofu and some minced pork in it. Rated a B.
P. got # 58 lunch special chicken chow mein in soya sauce. They noodles are thin, short, and crispy, with some chicken. Not much flavor, kinda boring to eat. Rated:C
About $21 before tip. Dishes just ok, but I probably won't be back. They take credit cards.

I'm sorry Limster but I don't remember seeing "crystal" dumplings on the menu, but then I wasn't looking for them.

re: limster
I think so, not sure, since it's been some time since I've had them from Good Luck. Margret and Yimster have posted about them. Oh, should also mention that I've been negative on Good Luck for some time now, but a couple months ago tried it again and it was much better.
TC Pastry in Daly City and on Irving on SF also makes these dumplings. They're filled with shrimp and cilantro with lots of white pepper.
