The Counter on Oprah

cvc Sep 14, 2006 10:04 PM

Oh my God, Oprah is highlighting the best burgers in the U.S. and just mentioned The Counter in S.M. Not my favorite by a long shot but it sure puts publicity into perspective. Should be worth a few bucks.

This issue came up quite a few days ago in the media board:

Yeah, that was a few months ago... between that and the Brad Pitt photo... it was all over... :P

What happened to never eating beef again?

IMO, Oprah has no tastebuds. And Gayle's tastebuds are only slightly better.

so true! she loves the red velvet cupcakes at doughboys, for the love of Bacchus. I don't particularly love red velvets in general, but doughboys? maybe she got a fresh one and i didn't. but i'll take the ones at buttercake on pico over them any day.

              Agreed. Buttercake is the best.

I heard she likes Sprinkles cupcakes, too. I didn't notice anything special other than presentation!

Well, Gayle went on a mission to try the top 20 burgers listed in GQ magazine. The Counter just happened to be on the list.

I used to work near The Counter, and went there a few times, but grew quickly tired of overpaying for a mediocre tasting burger. Gary's, a couple of buildings down, had a much better burger, and for a litte bit less, too.

Here is the problem with The Counter. Its a great idea-- expanded too fast and got too big for its own britches. Was a fun, easy, uncrowded place. Now its a bs madhouse-- not worth the wait. Too bad.
