Very nice casual lunch at Troquet today

I was walking by and noticed the sign "Now open for lunch" and I was ready for lunch so I gave it a try. The menu consisted of about 15 pressed sandwiches (about $7ea.), 5 or 6 salads (about $5ea.) and 3 soups( about $4ea). I tried the Cuban panino (ham, braised pork and pickles on a nice crusty grilled bread. The sandwich was great and they gave me a cup of squash soup, which was outstanding. A nice addition to the many lunch options in the area.

Interesting! How are they integrating the whole wine-bar aspect into the menu, if at all?

Wow, that's insanely cheap for almost anywhere, never mind Troquet. Will keep that in mind for the next time I can get downtown for lunch.

Thank you so much for posting about this!!! I'm often in the Downtown Crossing area at lunchtime on the weekend and it can be difficult to find somewhere to grab a tasty, healthy and quick light lunch. I remembered your post, dropped into Troquet today, and got their soup of the day - a luscious chickpea, redolent of mellow garlic and rosemary. I like the counter order system (speeds things up) and the option of to-go (for perfect weather like today) or table seating (for when it gets cold).

I had another great lunch today, they were pretty busy and handled my large order with ease. For as good as my Cubano sandwich was, the soups (buternut bisque) may be there strong suit.

I had the pressed Italian sandwich the other day with the butternut bisque..thought both were great.
