Sweatmens in SC

orzobino Sep 14, 2006 03:39 PM

going to SC for the weekend and plan on hitting Sweatmens Sat...figured to get the buffett but wondered if anybody has any specific recs..heard the skins and ribs are good..also something about a hash...

Skins, inside meat and outside meat(personal favorite) are all excellent as is the hash. The ribs are not what most folks expect. Sweatman's cooks whole hogs only. The ribs come right off the split pig and are like the rest of the inside meat. No bark. Still pretty tasty stuff. Wish I was closer to Holly Hill...

Don't miss the hash. It's like a gravy/stew that is commonly served over rice. Sweatman's is quite good.

Yes, you must try the hash. Some say it has every part of the pig except the squeal.

I ate at 5 restaurants this weekend in Charleston...everything from a casual seafood to an upscale 175 dollars for two place and my favorite experience was Sweatmens......I think I prefer the mustard base to the vinegar.....thanks for all the recs

                Oh yes..
Tasted a lot like Brunswick stew which is really weird...but very good....scooped it up with some crispy skins...talk about Cardiac heaven!!!

I could be wrong, but I think the one in Charleston is closed. I'm not sure. I think their is one in Holly Hill. Might want to call ahead.
