dumb question: Arturo's pizza--are both locations the same?

Is the York Ave location as good as the downtown one?

  1. No - the York Ave. pizza doesn't hold a candle to the Houston St. pizza.

    1. Thanks. Disappointing to know that two joints with the same name can't pull off the same level of quality. Guess I'll haul myself to Houston St, unless somebody can point me to great pizza closer to midtown....

Angelo's on 57th (6th Ave) has a coal oven. Their branch on 2nd ave and 55th does not but is still great.

Will definitely hit Angelo's, as I will be in the immediate neighborhood. Can't wait!

      2. Has to do with the oven, the one on Houston is grandfathered in for the coal fired oven, can't build em anymore.

Oh, I should have figured it was something like this. Another question: should I go to Grimaldi's instead of Arturo?

You'll get different responses on that question. ;) My vote goes to Arturo's. I think the crust is much better.

        2. I love arturo's and I always get pepperoni as it always comes out crisp around the edges and sooo good, otherwise I'm not one for toppings. Great pizza, I often order this over Lombadri's as I live in between.
