Zabb Thai - great Issan-style salads. The fried watercress salad at Sripraphai is also fantastic.

Press 155 in Bayside Queens on Bell Blvd makes great entree salads.

Nick's Pizzeria in Forest Hills has an awesome watercress and arugula salad with sundried tomato and roasted peppers but there is no protein choices to add. Have it with a pizza made with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and coal oven cooked and you also have a great meal.

Pho Bang in Elmhurst on Broadway - makes vietnamese salads with rice noodles and meat, chicken or shrimp that are really good too (and cheap)

The Thai restaurants tend to have good salads with protein choices.

If you like mexican food, 5 Burros Cafe on Austin St. in Forest Hills does a great salad, to which you can add grilled chicken, steak or shrimp. It is what I had for dinner Sunday evening. And it is really a bargain -- my salad with grilled steak was only $10.

I have a friend who loves La Flor in Woodside for salads. She says that they make them according to her specifications, whether it be just a strictly all greens type salad or adding some freshly grilled chicken to it.
