Ikeda's Fruit & Bakery & Tasty Burgers, Auburn report (w/ pics)

This was my 2nd time to Ikeda's. My first time I got a chicken teriyaki bowl which was just ok and the peach milkshake-ok.
This time I tried the tasty burger for $3.99. It's just a regular hamburger w/ mustard, mayo, pickle, tomato, lettuce, and red onions. I thought it was just average, a bit dry though..I needed a lot of ketchup to make up for it.
Their chicken potpies are good. Lots of carrots, peas, potatoes, chicken in a flaky crust. $5.99 each.
They take credit card. They have a little produce stand next door and men and women bathrooms outside.

We really don't see what the big deal is with Ikeda. It's a roadside fruit stand, nothing special. Yeah 25 yrs ago it's one of the very few places to stop on the way up to ski. Now not so special.

Ikeda's is an absolute gold mine!! Why, I have never figured out. I live down the street and see the traffic they do and it's considerable. Their hamburgers are nothing special and certainly not cheap. They do have good prices on selective produce but their fish, meat, nuts, cheeses, beer, dips, etc. are unbelievably high priced.
i've been shopping Ikeda's for 20 years.
Ikeda's is QUALITY. incredible, luscious summer peaches. tomatoes with FLAVOR. figs, apricots, pears, berries, corn and all picked ripe and in season. prices are often competitive with the big chain supermarkets, but we don't care if we pay a bit more for locally grown fresh produce.
we don't live in the area, but stop there whenever we are passing on highway 80. it's probably good we don't live too nearby, because the food stand is one of my weaknesses. excellent teyiyaki burger! shakes with REAL fruit and ice cream, plus killer onion rings and curly fries.
i'm a good home baker, so i don't buy pie regularly, but the chicken pie is insanely good. i WISH i could make chicken pie this good. i love them in winter, and get a half dozen frozen chic pies to take home.
