Megu Midtown Kobe- any reviews?

Chico Sep 11, 2006 05:11 PM

Will be heading there this week w/ Buddy Mglee for our first true kobe fix in many many years (1999?) and was wondering if anyone had any advice since the premise of megu has always been to confuse diners with 1000 choices of everything. (For the record, my favorite things downtown have always been the foie skewers and the seared salmon belly- while I love toro their's is really just too over-priced for me...)

I do not think this is true Kobe beef, by the way..not imported from Japan as far as I know..

Actually, my undertsanding is that this is the real stuff now. There was an article in the NY times in July talking about the lift of the ban. I have not checked it out yet, but would love to hear how it is.

Not sure about the ban, but I think real Kobe beef is much more expense than Waygu or American Kobe beef. I've read its upwards of $300 per lb in Japan.

The article acted like that is the stuff they are serving. It is $9 for one slice of the beef.
