Taco Dia was....just ok. It was Americanized Mex, but very good. But we now have genuine Mexican food in the area! You can get the real deal at 2 places just a few minutes from Newington.

    1. Texas Fast Food-it's a stall inside El Mercado, the Hispanic food market at Park and Broad St. in Hartford. (Yes, it's safe) His tacos are awesome, his tamales are amazing.

    2. At El Sarape, just around the corner on Broad St. (Park in their lot) You can dine at nice tables, eat from a large menu with fabulous daily specials. You can eat quite well for $10-12.

Try The El Paso in downtown Plainville. Truly is a hidden gem. They even make menudo on weekends. Grocery store inside with all sorts of Mexican CDs for sale too. I buy all the
      hot sauces there.

What a tragedy. We showed up one weekend there was a note on the door saying they were closed for the weekend. Showed up one week later - closed forever! I was in Stop and Shop a couple months ago wearing my "Monster Burrito" Taco Dia shirt. There was a guy in line wearing his black sun Taco Dia shirt. We were almost crying, hugging and stuff. I ain't kiddin'!!!!
GUYS!!! COME BACK WE NEED YOUR FRAGGIN' BURRITOS!!!!!!!!

Taco Dia has been closed for a while (since at least April), so I think it is closed for good. I don't know what happened. The couple who owned it was so wonderfully nice, and their food was great. I, too, will miss it.
