Yummy Alert- Gayle's Bakery in Capitola
Thanks to all those who gave a thumbs up to Gayle's Bakery on Bay St. in Capitola. I stopped by today and had a tough decision: full meal or baked goods. Went with the latter, ordering a whole wheat roll, a dutch crunch roll and a pecan tassie.
The wheat roll was a bit dense and tough for my taste, though others really might like it. However, the dutch crunch roll was the best I have ever had. It was so light, almost croissant-like in texture and very soft. I enjoyed it with the complimentary raspberry jam I requested (good quality). The pecan tessie was a satisfying 2-bite dessert consisting of a buttery crust filled with a lovely pecan-brown sugar mixture.
I was initially concerned about the crowd but found the line to be processed quite efficiently. I like that there are 3 separate areas, allowing those who only want pastries or coffee to receive quick service. Lovely patio area.
Only complaint- one bathroom! I was sixth in line!
Recommended! Can't wait to go back!
