The best carrot cake in the city, hands down is Maude's. It's moist with a luscious cream cheese frosting and it's even organic. I often buy it when I am epecting company -- I wouldn't dare have it around if I would be tempted to eat it all myself. It stays fresh almost the whole week.

You can taste it at places like Cafe DeLuca and Lula's in the city and Bagel Art and Lulu's in Evanston.

You can buy the whole cake (comes in two sizes) at Green City Market or Bulldog Bakery on West Belmont or on line at tipsycake.com (http://tipsycakechicago.com/maude_s_organic_carrot_cake.html)
