A Baker's Tour

I purchased Nick Malgieri's "A Baker's Tour" a few months ago but have yet to bake from it. Every recipe looks so delicious, I don't know where to start! Has anyone had success with recipes from this book? Any recommendations?? I'd appreciate your suggestions :). Thanks!

  1. I have all of Nick Malgieri's cookbooks and the recipes are perfect. I will occasionally change the spice recommendations, but the basic recipe is perfect for 95% of cooks.
I originally heard about him from friends who are also professional bakers, and seeing him do the Friday pastry slot on Sarah Moultons show proved to me that he isn't a "boutique" chef.

Good to hear! In "A Baker's Tour" in particular, do you have any favorites? I'm trying to figure out where to start -- everything looks fab.

    2. I love the Baker's Tour book. My two favorites are the St. Gallen Klostertorte, and the Tan Fingers. The Prinsessen Kramkake is pretty good too, but I have not made it myself yet.

Just thinking about the tan fingers makes me want to make them again and they are really easy to make so I would start with that.

      1. Thanks, Kate! Great advice :). Those did jump out at me, so I guess I should get baking! (I had marked the other two recipes as well, so it sounds like we're on the same page...)
