I went to the Lake Forest Pastry Shop several years ago. The pastries were wonderful. I'll be in St.Louis next week and wondered if the LF Pastry Shop is still open? Is Lake Forest Confections the same place and is it open?

Not the same place at all. Lake Forest Confections is a candy shop patterned quite closely on Bissinger's. The pastry shop, of blessed memory, is no more.

Such a funny place- it holds in my memory for its split lemon layer cake (my childhood b-day cake of chioce) and the surly staff- and always long lines.
There are some traditional '50s style bakeries on Watson- but no more Lake Forest.
