romantic, speical, moderately priced dinner?

I'm taking my husband out for a bithday/1 month anniversary dinner Tuesday night, and looking for someplace with good food, a romatic atmosphere, and not tremendous bill ($50-$75 per person). Have a reservation at Il Buco, but wanted any and all thoughts. . .

  1. do not go to il buco. you can search in here for my long and painful experience their last april.

for a nice special place, my go to restaurant is l'impero in tudor city. the food is stellar, winelist very good, and ambience amazing. for $64 you get appetizer, pasta, entree, and dessert. or you can go a la carte.

    1. There was a recent post similar to yours and I recommended either Bianca or Da Andrea. Both are smaller and a little intimate, have great food and service and a pretty good wine list. They are not as romantic as Il Buco, although I personally prefer the food at Bianca and Da Andrea, but the value is much greater IMHO. I have not been to L'Impero but I have only heard great things.

      1. I second the L'Impero rec. A don't miss dish: the mushrooms and polenta. Seriously delicious! The ambiance on the small patio is truly romantic, but the interior is quite lovely with lighting that provides a romantic feel. An excellent place to celebrate a special occasion.

        1. Try Apizz in the Lower East Side. It is romantic and absolutely delicious. I'm not sure I'd call it moderately priced - entrees are in the $20s - but I think it'd fit into your budget, and it's worth it. So much better than Il Buco could ever be. I've had some incredibly romantic dinners at Apizz.

Apizz is a really beautiful place..small, brick walls, flowers everywhere, wood-burning oven....and really excellent food! It would get my vote...

          2. I just had a lovely anniversary dinner at Azul in the LES.

It's Argentinian, quaint, romantic and just quiet enough to be able to talk.

The food was excellent (we had the empanadas, steak for two and the molten chocolate cake).

That, a glass of wine and a cup of decaf came to mere $75 total.

            I would definitely go back.
